When Calls the Heart series  is inspired by Janette Oke's book series and produced by Michael Landon, Jr. This DVD is the third DVD of Season 2. Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow) is back in Hope Valley and is thankful for the new school/church building. Humor ensues when Elizabeth volunteers to help a farmer take care of his two children and farm while he is gone. Jack (Daniel Lissing) comes to lend her a hand. Clara works at Abigail's cafe but her real talent lies in sewing. Luke McCoy shows interest in Clara but Clara is reluctant to respond. Henry Gowen, the new mayor of Hope Valley, tries to make things difficult for Lee Coulter who is planning to construct a railroad. Charles Kensington shows up unexpectedly in Hope Valley. Book Review: Parenting Is Heart Work by Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller

Parenting is not for the faint of heart. It's hard work and it's heart work. Some parents are so concerned about how their children behave that they forget to pay attention to what is really going on in their children's hearts. Parenting Is Heart Work is an exceptional parenting book that helps parents see how a heart-based approach works and makes a lasting impact on children's lives. Real change must take place in the heart. Based on Biblical principles, Parenting Is Heart Work gives parents practical ideas to effectively reach, guide, and shape their children's hearts. The book is divided into 4 parts: Understanding the Heart, Connecting with Your Child's Heart, Working Out Heart Change, and Touching Your Child's Heart. At the end of the book, you will find Reader's Guide which includes questions for discussion corresponding to each chapter. Each chapter ends with a prayer. DVD Review: Uncommon

Uncommon is a Christian film about using our voice to express what we believe in and defend our liberty to do so. Due to budget cuts, Rosewood High School closes down their theater and choir programs. A group of drama students (led by Haley) are determined to create a play on their own. They ask Mark Garcia (played by Erik Estrada), the school's maintenance supervisor, to help them. They have trouble coming up with a script. Aaron Chase (played by Ben Davies) suggests the Bible and is given the task of writing the script. Challenges and oppositions arise. Legal counsel is sought. Public schools are truly a spiritual battleground. Christians are called to be set apart for God's use...to be uncommon. To live by faith. To rely on God. Will faith and freedom of speech and religion be able to stand in public schools? Check out this inspiring, informative, faith-based film (released nationally on DVD on Aug. 4th)!  Some interesting facts about the movie (found on the website, ht

Review: Divine Walls

Divine Walls is a Christian company that makes beautiful vinyl wall art (with inspirational sayings and Scriptures) for the home, office, or church. It is located in Scappoose, Oregon. There are over 600 unique designs available online from their website . Custom designs are also an option. When I was given an opportunity to review their product, it was hard for me to narrow down my choices because I love so many of them :). However, I realized that my house does not have many empty walls left so I could not choose long Bible verses or words. I'm very pleased with what I received. " Christ is the Center of our Home " is what I chose because it is the theme of our family. We love our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we surrender all to His Lordship, and we desire to honor Him in all we do. We decided to put the decal in the center of our home above our french door that separates our living room and family room. I believe the best way to decorate my home is to fill it w

DVD Review: When Calls the Heart: Heart and Soul

When Calls the Heart series  is inspired by Janette Oke's book series. This DVD is the second DVD of Season 2. Coal Valley is now changed to Hope Valley since the coal mine is shut down. Jack returns to Hope Valley while Elizabeth remains in Hamilton. She spends a lot of time with her childhood friend, Charles Kensington. She is torn between her comfortable living in Hamilton and her new life in Hope Valley. Rosemary Leveaux is offered a role in a play in San Francisco and leaves Hope Valley with two "producers". Abigail Stanton leaves Hope Valley for Hamilton because she is worried about Clara, her daughter-in-law. Bill Avery helps Abigail find Clara. There are several twists and turns in this DVD. Deception. Manipulation. Temptation. Oppression. Decision. Secrets. Rescue. Wedding. New mayor. New pastor. My daughter and I have enjoyed watching this family-friendly series. It's not preachy but it still shows the power of love, the power of prayer, and Biblical va
