Growing Stage

Our garden is looking pretty good.  The corn, zucchini, and green beans are thriving.  Only two tomato plants have survived (from seeds); we added one more tomato plant (not from seeds) so now we have 3.  We were disappointed when we discovered that deer had eaten our green grape tomatoes.  My husband then put up a wire fence around our garden to protect it.  We also see 4 cucumber plants and a few pepper plants.  We’ve recently added a Thai Dragon Pepper plant which is doing quite well (we can’t wait to try it ).  We are looking forward to the "harvest stage" .  On a sad note, we have not seen any watermelon that we planted (seeds).  This past weekend, we dumped out all the leftover seeds (watermelons, green beans, zucchini) here and there (outside our garden area)…they will most likely not grow…but you never know, right? " But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  To Him be glory both...

World's Best Dad = My Husband :)!

The Conservative Homeschooler is hosting the World’s Best Dad contest from June 19th to June 24th. Why do I think my husband is the world’s best dad (my children think so, too)? " He who fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge ." Proverbs 14:26   My husband always puts God first and family second.  My husband is our hero of faith and integrity!  His love for God is real.  His desire to please and honor God is real.  His passion to reach the lost for God’s kingdom is real.  His personal relationship with Jesus is real.  His reverence for our Holy God is real.  His obedience to God is real.  His pursuit of memorizing, studying, and understanding God’s Word is real.   His zeal for Godliness is real.  His compassion for others is real.  He breathes and lives what he preaches (he’s not a preacher by profession, but he loves to talk about God and...

Budding Stage

It is always exciting to see little stems and leaves poke through the ground where we planted seeds.  However, because of our inexperience, we cannot tell very well which ones are the vegetables/fruits we planted and which ones are weeds .  Some are obvious but some are not.  We can see zucchini and green beans growing but we are not sure about the rest.  Last weekend, we planted corn seeds.  The weather here in Oregon has been pretty nice…some rain…some sunshine. By the way, this post is part of a gardening challenge hosted by Kathy Brodock at Teaching Good Things . If you like to do crafts, you can get a free Garden Crafts eBook here . Motivate Me Monday!–Defend the Defenseless

This is my first time participating in the Motivate Me Monday meme hosted by Sarah Mae at likeawarmcupofcoffee .  Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.  Welcome! I desire to live for God. I desire to use my time, talents, and treasure for His glory and according to His will.  " He has showed you, O man, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God ."  Micah 6:8  There are many injustices in the world today.  One of them that truly grieves me is "abortion", merciless killing of the innocent human-beings.  Those unborn babies never get a chance to "redeem their time".  For those who have experienced abortion, please know that the Lord loves you very much and He is willing to heal you and forgive you.  Sarah Mae graciously shared her abortion story here (part 1) and here (part 2).  It’s a beautiful & powerful testimony to the Lord’s...

Treasure Life Giveaway

As Mother’s Day is approaching, you are probably looking forward to showing appreciation to your mom once again and trying to make her day special.  Have you ever thought what would happen if your mom chose abortion when she was pregnant with you?  Well, the answer is simple; you would not be here today.  Abortions destroy approximately 4,000 defenseless human beings a day in the U.S. and 130,000 a day worldwide.  Those innocent lives have never got a chance to give their mom a hug, or a chance to live or do anything for that matter.  Life is precious; it’s a gift from God!!!  Celebrate life.  Treasure life.  Choose life.  Your mother did! My 15 year old daughter is very passionate about saving the unborn (okay, our whole family, not just she ).  She has been participating in Steps for Life (fund-raising event for the Pregnancy Resource Centers) since she was 5.  Pregnancy Resource Centers  (PRC...

Our Mini-Vacation

Last week, our family had a mini-vacation.  My husband was scheduled to attend the Developing Leader Conference in Bend from Tuesday to Friday; therefore, he wanted us to be close by (isn’t he so sweet?).  We drove to Sunriver on Saturday and stayed in a condo there for a week.  He spent the first three days and as much time as possible on the last four days with us.  We had fun sledding and cross-country skiing at the Wanoga Sno Park.  We hiked at the Smith Rock State Park.  The view there was breathtaking.  The pictures don’t do it justice.  We visited Boyd Cave; we discovered that our 10 year old son had claustrophobia so we did not go too far into the cave.  We also went to Tumalo Falls but we did not get to hike to the falls because it was snowing hard and the trail was all covered with deep snow.  We decided to just hike up a snowy hill nearby instead.  We had a great ...

Northwest Creation Conference 2009

Yesterday, my daughter and I attended the Northwest Creation Conference at the Columbia Conference Center in Portland.  We enjoyed it tremendously and learned a lot.  We attended the following sessions (from around 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.):- The Dangers of Evolution, Fossil Evidence of Creation and the Flood, The Lies in Your Textbooks Part 1, Hi-Tech Pharaohs & Ancient Technology, Stones & Bones-Claws & Jaws, The Lies in Your Textbooks Part 2 , and Unlocking the Mysteries of Civilization.   The speakers included Eric Hovind, Paul Veit, Dr. Dennis Swift, and Dennis Petersen.  The conference was packed with fact-filled presentation, tons of scientific evidence, display of fossils and artifacts, Biblical references, Gospel message, laughter, and assortment of wonderful creation-related materials (available for sale).  The more I learn and know about science, the more amazed I am at the love, mercy, & grace of God, the Creator, and the bea...
