Book Review: Encounter the 3D Bible by Dr. Susan Michael

I personally enjoy studying the Bible. I desire to know God more and more intimately. I don't want to miss out on anything God wants me to know. I always appreciate tools and resources that help me understand the Bible better. In addition, I've always wanted to visit Israel. Encounter the 3D Bible by Dr. Susan Michael is an easy but impactful read. It makes me more mindful of how the places, people, culture, and events in the Bible fit together so beautifully. This book is not a Bible study but a book that gives you tips on how to read the Bible in such a way that enhances your understanding and your appreciation of the Bible. The Bible will go from 2D to 3D and makes your Bible study richer and livelier. It whets your appetite for digging deeper into God's Word as digging for precious treasures.

The author gives guidelines to help us read the Bible in context (historical context, geographical context, cultural context, and literary context/genre). Without a proper understanding of the context, it is easier to miss the significance and richness of details within the Biblical stories or even misinterpret some passages. If you are curious about why God chose the Jewish people and Israel to be the center stage of His redemption plan on earth, you will gain Biblical insights from reading Encounter the 3D Bible. You (well, at least I) will also never read Matthew 25:32-40 the same way ever again :). The book demonstrates that the God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament; He is loving, forgiving, just, merciful, faithful, and sovereign over all. His goodness and lovingkindness never change. God is eternally immutable (unchangeable).

The book includes some black and white photos and maps. It also includes Old Testament Timeline (Appendix A) and Recommended Resources (Appendix B). "If we want revivals, we must revive our reverence for the Word of God." (Charles Spurgeon) Encounter the 3D Bible will help readers read, study, and meditate on God's Word with awe, reverence, enthusiasm, and delight. I highly recommend this concise, insightful, and eye-opening book to everyone who desires to understand the Bible better and thus to know God better.

Acclaimed Bible teacher Kay Arthur (who wrote the foreword for this book) says Encounter the 3D Bible will "help any reader understand the Bible better and approach it from the proper perspective regardless of age, biblical background, or preconceived ideas."

DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo
