Review and Giveaway: Ryza & Almond Fresh Plus a $40 Whole Foods Gift Card

I have lactose intolerance so I like to find alternatives that provide calcium and Vitamin D. I usually drink soy milk and I had tried some rice milk and almond milk before. I was glad to get the opportunity to review almond milk and rice milk from Earth's Own (Canada's award-winning, leading non-dairy beverage company). I was given 2 vouchers which I used at a Whole Foods store for 1 carton of Vanilla Ryza and 1 carton of Vanilla Almond Fresh.

  • Ryza: The only rice beverage to bear the Whole Grains Council seal. Ryza is also the only rice milk to contain 16 grams of whole grains per one cup serving. Ryza contains no added oils, making it half the fat of the leading competitor.
My husband used Ryza in his cereal and said that it tasted better than other rice milk we had tried in the past. I used Ryza in green curry and it was very yummy. My 12 year old son and I also used Ryza in our oatmeal. My youngest son enjoyed drinking it straight from a cup. Ryza is the only non-processed rice milk; therefore, all the natural oils and vitamins of the brown rice are preserved. Ryza uses 100% North American grown non-GMO rice. It is low in fat, low in sodium, and has no added sugars or sweeteners. Ryza is also packed with calcium, vitamins A, D, B2, B12, and iron. Gluten-free and cholesterol-free.

    • Almond Fresh™: Made with nutrient-rich real California almonds, Almond Fresh offers a unique “real nutty taste” that is exclusive to the beverage. In 2011, it received the “Best New Product” award in the Dairy Alternative category as voted by more than 25,000 consumers and featured in Canadian Living magazine.
Almond Fresh (Vanilla) tastes so good and refeshing that we enjoy drinking it straight. It's a perfect blend of vanilla sweetness and almond taste. Almond Fresh contains calcium, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, and Vitamin E (Did you know that the vitamin E found in almonds is the most easily absorbed antioxidant?). Almond Fresh is also wheat-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free.

I'm pleased with both products. Healthy and delicious...can't beat that :)! Either one can be used in smoothies, coffee, cereal, baking, and all sorts of recipes.

GIVEAWAY: One winner (randomly chosen) will receive a voucher for a carton each of Almond Fresh and Ryza AND a $40 Whole Foods gift card. The giveaway ends 10/5 at midnight Pacific time.

    10. I "liked" them both on FB (even though I have no idea if I like them. :-) I'd really LOVE to win a Whole Foods GC - and would try the two products you mention. (We make fresh Almond milk. And have used Rice Dream and liked it in the past.)

I'm Lisa Meandmyhouse on FB. But hopefully you won't dock me for not publically publishing my email address here. My website (which has a contact form) is included - and you are a FB friend of mine.

DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo...
