21 Days of Prayer for Sons--Forgiveness

I can't believe that this is the 21st day already! I love praying the Scriptures for my sons...and my daughter, too. I know I will continue this and from time to time, I hope I'll get a chance to share about it on my blog here. After reading this chapter about forgiveness, I'm reminded once again: how thankful I am that my God, husband, and children are so forgiving !!! Unconditional love and unlimited forgiveness go hand in hand. Study Questions 1. Forgiveness can be such a stumbling block in our lives. Tons of studies exist that prove that withholding forgiveness affects us not only spiritually, but also physically. These facts, combined with what you've read in this chapter make a pretty compelling argument for teaching sons how to ask for forgiveness. How have you done it in the past? We have been teaching our sons to humbly admit when they have done wrong and ask for forgiveness from God and from the offended party. 2. What is your understanding of forgivene...

21 Days of Prayer for Sons: When Hearts Soften

" What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? " (Matthew 16:26) Our sons' salvation should be our most important concern and most urgent prayer need. If they succeed in everything, receive praise and approval from all men, gain the riches of the world, yet they are not saved... that would be the greatest tragedy I could ever think of. My husband and I prayed for our children's salvation before they were born...even before they were conceived. In fact, I believe I prayed that God would not allow us to have a child if that child will not be saved by Him/will not choose Christ; I just could not (still cannot) bear knowing that any of my children's souls will end up in hell for eternity. Study Questions 1. Can you recall a time when you sensed your son's heart was soft to the message of the Gospel? Describe what happened here. They realized they needed a Savior. They repented and desired to obey God's Word. 2. Do yo...

21 Days of Prayer for Sons--Integrity

Today, I read pp. 17-18. I prayed the Scriptures on integrity for my sons. " Integrity can be defined as firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values or the quality or state of being complete or undivided. Someone who stands up for what is right no matter who is around. " (from the Warrior Prayers Leader Guide) I would like to add that integrity also includes standing up to defend what is right and fight what is wrong...come what may. " A person with inte grit y has 'grit'....Never mistake respectability for integrity. Respectability can come because of fear, power, position, or wealth. Integrity requires none of these. It stands on its own character. " (~Brent D. Earles) I made up an acronym for I.N.T.E.G.R.I.T.Y. I mitating Christ N o compromise T ruthful E arnest G rounded in God's principles R eliable I mmovable in righteousness T rustworthy Y ielding to Christ Study Questions 1. Top Ten Tips for Christian Home Educators

I have seen and heard several homeschool moms getting discouraged, burned out, or overwhelmed. I've been there, done that :). I think it's important for us moms (and dads) to encourage one another and learn from one another in our homeschooling journey/adventure! I'd like to share what I've learned... I am still learning and relying on God every single day. I hope what I share here may encourage some. My "top ten tips" are: 1. " Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight ." Proverbs 3:5-6 2. Pray, pray, and pray continually. 3. Instill in your children love for God, passion for His word, and desire to please & serve Him. 4. Focus on building your kids’ character, training their attitudes, and tying heart strings. 5. Lead by example; walk the talk; be real and humble. Give grace and forgiveness (there will be plenty of opportunities to ...

What A Blessed Mom I Am!

What makes me a proud mom? First and foremost, I thank the Lord for blessing me (and my husband) with three precious children! Being their mom is priceless. I am so humbled by what the Lord has done in my children's lives. Yes, proud and humbled at the same time! I am most proud (filled with indescribable joy) that all my three children love the Lord and walk in the truth (God's truth). " I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth ." (3 John 4) They are living a life of faith, love, and integrity. They are obedient, respectful, truthful, cheerful, thoughtful, and thankful (most of the time :)). To me, my children's soul, heart, and character are way more important than their accomplishments. With that said, they have accomplished plenty. My 17 year old daughter, Alyssa , loves kids and has a heart for orphans and for saving the preborn. She enjoys volunteering as a teacher's helper in the pre-school class at chu...

Photo Hunt: Education

It's time for a weekly PhotoHunt hosted at http://tnchick.com/ . This week's theme is Education. " Educating our children includes more than arithmetic and spelling; it includes building character.  No educational pursuit can replace the deep need for a generation of children to be brought up first in the ‘nurture and admonition’ of the Lord ." ~Rick Williamson  We home-educate our children. We’re Christ-centered, Bible-based, mission-minded, family-bonding, character-building, & life-long learning homeschoolers.  We cherish our togetherness; we enjoy learning and growing together as the Lord leads us. Our kids learn at their own pace. They are free to explore and dig deep in the topics they're interested in. We had some of our kids' works displayed at our local public library. Lots of books and lots of educational posters :) We are relaxed homeschoolers...can you tell :)? Learning math while having fun...education at its best :) Speaking of e...

Top Ten Highlights from 2010

We are so grateful for the Lord's blessings, love, grace, mercy, and faithfulness throughout the years.  I like to take a look back each year at what He had done for us, in us, and through us.  We're especially thankful for the Lord's healing on our 12 year old son.  There's a big difference in him between 2009 and 2010. 1. Our daughter, Alyssa (16 then), gave 2 wonderful speeches at our local speech/apologetics club. 2. I was the Grand Prize Winner for Focus on the Family's Celebrating Life Contest in February. I've won a trip for two to Colorado and lunch with Jim Daly, the President of Focus on the Family, but Focus on the Family has not given me the prize yet (Update as of Feb., 2011: FOTF is arranging an all expense paid trip for our whole family of 5 to visit Colorado in July! Praise God!). I also won a Rosetta Stone Giveaway (from Rosetta Stone via a blog).  We picked Mandarin Chinese. 3. I was one of the contributors (by the name...

Children of Light Christian Academy

Welcome, everybody, to our family's blog.  You can read about us on the left sidebar.  Our homeschool's name is "Children of Light Christian Academy".  " For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.  Live as children of light  (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord ."  (Ephesians 5:8-10)  Our homeschool's motto is "Let's shine brightly for Jesus!" We homeschool our three precious blessings: 17 year old daughter , 12 year old son , and 9 year old son.  We have been homeschooling since 1999.  We mix and match our resources to meet our kids’ individual learning styles and interests .  Grade level is not emphasized.  Their skills and abilities are taken into consideration more than their ages.  We have flexible structure/routine.  We take time to dig deeper when there’s an interest.  We read (a lot), research, create...
