Review: The 21-Day Dad's Challenge

List Price: $13.99  ISBN: 978-1-58997-681-8  Trim Size: 5 1/2 x 8 1/4  Binding: Softcover  I have not seen Courageous yet, but I have heard positive reviews about it and can't wait to get its DVD. Courageous challenges men to be better fathers. The 21-Day Dad’s Challenge aims to do the same. Because of their competitive nature, men enjoy challenges. This book offers 3 weeks worth of challenges for dads to develop better relationships with their kids. The challenges were written by well-known Christian men such as Josh McDowell, Jim Daly, Joe White, Jay Payleitner, Randy Alcorn, Tony Dungy, Shaun Alexander, Chip Ingram, Carey Casey (the general editor) and one woman. The 21-Day Dad’s Challenge will inspire and equip men to build stronger bonds with their kids while having fun and instilling Godly values in them. I'm excited to be sharing all the practical tips in this book with my husband. It's helpful for moms, too :). Each chapter ends with "Your Challenge"...

What A Blessed Mom I Am!

What makes me a proud mom? First and foremost, I thank the Lord for blessing me (and my husband) with three precious children! Being their mom is priceless. I am so humbled by what the Lord has done in my children's lives. Yes, proud and humbled at the same time! I am most proud (filled with indescribable joy) that all my three children love the Lord and walk in the truth (God's truth). " I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth ." (3 John 4) They are living a life of faith, love, and integrity. They are obedient, respectful, truthful, cheerful, thoughtful, and thankful (most of the time :)). To me, my children's soul, heart, and character are way more important than their accomplishments. With that said, they have accomplished plenty. My 17 year old daughter, Alyssa , loves kids and has a heart for orphans and for saving the preborn. She enjoys volunteering as a teacher's helper in the pre-school class at chu...

Children of Light Christian Academy

Welcome, everybody, to our family's blog.  You can read about us on the left sidebar.  Our homeschool's name is "Children of Light Christian Academy".  " For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.  Live as children of light  (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord ."  (Ephesians 5:8-10)  Our homeschool's motto is "Let's shine brightly for Jesus!" We homeschool our three precious blessings: 17 year old daughter , 12 year old son , and 9 year old son.  We have been homeschooling since 1999.  We mix and match our resources to meet our kids’ individual learning styles and interests .  Grade level is not emphasized.  Their skills and abilities are taken into consideration more than their ages.  We have flexible structure/routine.  We take time to dig deeper when there’s an interest.  We read (a lot), research, create...

Father's Day Filled with Feast and Fun

For the past several years, every Father’s Day…we have gone up to Washington to visit my husband’s dad and his wife.  Yesterday, we continued our tradition: our annual Father’s Day cookout at their place.  My husband’s sister and his niece & nephew (his brother’s kids) were there, too.  We had a big feast and had a great time playing badminton and volleyball.  We also enjoyed playing a board game called "Clever Endeavor."  You try to guess from clues what the answer might be.  Sometimes we were clueless even after many clues were given ! We ended our Father’s Day by taking our kids to play miniature golf at Bullwinkles before heading home.  It’s always lots of fun to spend time with our fabulous father/daddy (my dear husband).

God's All-Star Champions

This past week (Monday to Friday) my kids participated in a Vacation Bible School (VBS) at a local church where one of our friends attend.  My daughter was one of the helpers.  This is her second year of helping VBS at that church.  She decorated the church, set up the props, prepared snacks, counted the offering, etc.  My boys (natural athletes) enjoyed all the sports and games while learning about living and winning God’s way.    The VBS’s theme is God’s All-Star Champions (wearing God’s gear, "the full armor of God.")  My 7 yo son was one of the 3 kids who succeeded at memorizing Ephesians 6:11, 13-18 (putting on the full armor of God).  My daughter already had that memorized so she was able to help her brother memorize the verses.  My 4 yo son managed to memorize other shorter verses.  At home we always encourage one another on Bible memorization.  We try to keep it fun and interesting while reminding our kids ...
