Review and Giveaway: ‘Christmas Under the Stars’ featuring Lauren Daigle

I love Lauren Daigle's rich & husky voice so I was excited for the opportunity to review her Christmas special, " Christmas Under the Stars ". Are you ready for some Christmas carols? I love Christmas songs and can listen to them anytime of the year. I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas concert. You can watch this spectacular Christmas special on December 6th at 9:00 pm ET (6:00 pm PT) on BYUtv or on the BYUtv app. Stream the show for free on BYUtv anytime after the premiere. If you are fans of Lauren Daigle or fans of Adele (their voices are similar), you will enjoy this Christmas special (about 55 minutes long). Grammy, Billboard Music and Dove-award winning artist Lauren Daigle beautifully sang 15 songs, paying homage to New Orleans Jazz music. I really like the energetic sound of saxophone and trombone. The songs include some of popular holiday songs like "Winter Wonderland," "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer," and "Jingle Bells" and so

Review: Spiritual Seeds Planner

I am a planner-wannabe. I know I need to be more organized. I am a list maker, journal keeper, and sticker lover. I was elated to receive this grapefruit pink 2021 Weekly Planner for review. Spiritual Seeds Planner is no ordinary planner. It prioritizes our spiritual growth over our daily plans and progress over achievement. It is designed specifically to help Christians live a life filled with the fruit of the Spirit, guided by the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 is one of my favorite Bible verses: " But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law ." This unique planner uses a gardening theme that emphasizes four garden plots: Friends/Family, Self/Personal Well-Being, Community, and Vocation/Work. Each month focuses on one fruit at a time and has a page for writing down action plans to plant and cultivate and grow. Each month starts with an inspirational prayer an

Book Review: Generation to Generation by Yael Eckstein

Billy Graham said, " The greatest legacy one can pass on to one's children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one's life, but rather a legacy of character and faith ." I hope most if not all Christian parents concur. However, busyness, distractions of technology, and the pulls of worldliness are all working against us parents trying to pass on our faith to our children. I find this book quite interesting and helpful (you can tell by how many good quotes I like...see below). I always wanted to know more about the Jewish roots of our Christian faith. I enjoyed reading Generation to Generation and learning so many things about the holy observances of the Jewish year and about Judaism.  The author shares how the holy observances and traditions help Jewish parents pass down their faith from generation to generation (known as l'dor v'dor). She also explains key values that each one reinforces. The book covers Shabbat, Passover,

Book Review: Comparison Girl

Comparison is a disease that infects all of us at one time or another in varying degrees. It's one of the Enemy's tools and strategies for making us stumble and sin and keeping us from being useful and fruitful for the Kingdom of God. Comparing ourselves with others either causes shame, discontent, and jealousy (feeling inferior) or pride, arrogance, and contempt (feeling superior). Either way is unhealthy and unproductive. In Comparison Girl , the author shows us there's a better way to live our lives by learning from Jesus how to be free from self-absorption in this measure-up world. Do you struggle with not measuring up? Do you worry about how others think of you? Or do you think, "I would never..." when others make wrong choices? Do you easily find faults in others while being clueless about your own faults? This book addresses all these issues (insecurities, envy, fear, pride, arrogance, self-importance) and more. Shannon Popkin invites us women to tip o

Film Review and Giveaway: I Still Believe

I was thrilled for the opportunity (via LEV3L) to review I Still Believe , the new inspiring film based on the real-life story of Christian singer and songwriter Jeremy Camp . My family and I have enjoyed and appreciated his music for years. This film is fantastic! It's a beautiful love story that also demonstrates faith, hope, and life's purpose. Jeremy Camp met his first wife, Melissa Henning, in college in 1999. Their short journey together was filled with sweet romance, brief separation, devastating diagnosis, incredible miracle, and tremendous loss/grief. Melissa was a bright shining star that glowed radiantly with God's love and her unwavering faith in our great God. She said, " If just one life comes to know Jesus through my cancer, it will all be worth it ." What a wonderful testimony her life and suffering were indeed! " I Still Believe " was the first song (see lyrics below) that Jeremy Camp wrote after Melissa's death. Her life (and dea

Book Review: Grace Looks Amazing on You: 100 Days of Reflecting God's Love by Amy Seiffert

Grace Looks Amazing on You is a 100-day devotional for women that aims to help readers reflect and radiate God's amazing love and grace. It is filled with personal stories, Scriptures, and Biblical insights. It is divided into 10 sections of what grace looks like: confidence, soul care, contentment, practice, strength, community, refinement, overcoming, faithfulness, and trust. Each devotion begins with a Bible verse(s) and ends with "Grace Reflection" (which includes a prayer, a thought-provoking question, a reminder, or a suggestion). Each devotion is a short read but is impactful. Through the pages, you will discover that God's amazing, inexhaustible grace comes to us in so may ways and forms. Amy Seiffert is no stranger to life's messes and trials (ex: her son has Crohn's disease) yet she notices that the gift of God's grace keeps showing up, even in the midst of pain and hardship. I appreciate her transparency and her words of wisdom. One of my f

Book Review: Resilient

Have you ever wondered why some children (growing up in Christian families) leave their Christian faith when they go to college or when they leave home? On the other hand, why do some children who had horrible childhood stay steadfast in their faith and thrive in their adulthood? Is the church dying? If so, how can we impact the future of the church? Resilient attempts to answer these questions. It's an excellent book that explores about child discipleship and the fearless future of the church. The book aims to meet the challenge facing those involved in children's ministries today regarding whether they are adequately discipling today's youth to lead the future of the church in a culture that's becoming more and more hostile to the gospel. It's a wake-up call and a call to action for all the children's ministry leaders and disciple-makers to adjust and apply the effective child discipleship that fosters spiritually resilient children who will stay resilient
