Book Review: Grace Looks Amazing on You: 100 Days of Reflecting God's Love by Amy Seiffert

Grace Looks Amazing on You is a 100-day devotional for women that aims to help readers reflect and radiate God's amazing love and grace. It is filled with personal stories, Scriptures, and Biblical insights. It is divided into 10 sections of what grace looks like: confidence, soul care, contentment, practice, strength, community, refinement, overcoming, faithfulness, and trust. Each devotion begins with a Bible verse(s) and ends with "Grace Reflection" (which includes a prayer, a thought-provoking question, a reminder, or a suggestion). Each devotion is a short read but is impactful. Through the pages, you will discover that God's amazing, inexhaustible grace comes to us in so may ways and forms. Amy Seiffert is no stranger to life's messes and trials (ex: her son has Crohn's disease) yet she notices that the gift of God's grace keeps showing up, even in the midst of pain and hardship. I appreciate her transparency and her words of wisdom.

One of my favorite devotions in the book is called "Annoying Grace." The title may shock or confuse you. It's about grace that showed up at the perfect time but the author didn't realize until later. Sometimes things that annoy us turn out to be what we need. The book encourages readers to readily receive God's grace and generously give God's grace. When we recognize God's love towards us in our various circumstances and reflect it in our action and interaction with others, His grace looks amazing on us. More importantly, grace sparkles and attracts others to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who is the embodiment of grace. This devotional will help you notice glimpses of grace all around you and find ways to express God's love to those around you. I enjoy it and find it inspiring, encouraging, and comforting. I highly recommend this refreshing read. Mother's Day is coming up. Grace Looks Amazing on You would make a wonderful gift for any woman in your life. The cover is beautiful and the content is meaningful. May we shine God's light and share God's love in our everyday moments and in every aspect of our lives!

"When was the last time we looked back on our lives and underlined goodness and mercy in our narrative? Are we regularly taking a pen to our story and highlighting their presence? Are we seeking God, seeing His grace, and trusting His faithfulness? Are we finding our contentment in Him?" (p.77)

"Grace looks like an ordinary watering can doing extraordinary work: being filled up and pouring back out. Visualize how Jesus would love and talk to those closest to you. Think about how He would live standing in your shoes. Then ask God to help you reflect Him and to produce the fruit of love in you." (p. 87)

DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo...
