My Review:
I was surprised to find that this book talks about a Christmas tradition that our family has been doing for years! I read the book to my kids and they laughed because they already knew about the plot :). Every year after Thanksgiving, my kids start preparing their gifts for Jesus. Christmas is the time when we celebrate our Savior’s birth. We want to give Him gifts (though we do things for Jesus all year through). The Sparkle Box is a delightful book with a wonderful message. The boy in the story looks forward to opening a mysterious box on Christmas morning and what he finds in the box helps him realize what the true meaning of Christmas is. Beautiful, vivid illustrations...warm and inviting! I only wish they didn't include the wise men in the nativity scene (they were not there when Jesus was born). The book includes one sparkle box and a note from the author at the end of the book.

Jill Hardie and her family began placing a gift for Jesus under their
Christmas tree as a way of bringing more meaning to the holiday. The
first time they opened His gift, the commercialism of the season melted
away and they felt a profound joy and peace. Jill hopes that The Sparkle Box will spark a new Christmas tradition, bringing light into thousands of lives.
