DVD Review and Giveaway: The Perfect Summer

The Perfect Summer is a movie about the worst summer turning into the unexpectedly pleasant summer when Jake (Adam Horner), a fatherless, 17 year old internet-dependent young man and his Mom (Sydney Penny) move from Chicago to live with her estranged father/Jake's grandfather (Eric Roberts) in a small surfing town. This change is difficult for Jake who seems to have nothing in common with people in the beach town. Everybody knows how to surf, except Jake. In addition, the town bully, Tyler (JD Banks), takes pleasure in giving Jake a hard time. Jake feels like an outcast and is bored to death. Things look dim and depressing for the summer until he meets Kayla, a beautiful talented surfer. Jake becomes interested in surfing and discovers that his own grandfather, Lou, is a surf legend. Lou teaches Jake how to surf and helps him find courage to face & overcome his fears and challenges in life. Jake accepts the dare from Tyler to enter a surfing competition even though he is just a beginner. In the end, Jake realizes that there are more important things than winning a competition. My family and I enjoyed this DVD. Great performance and beautiful setting! Jason Castro does a great job playing a friendly surf shop owner. Chill out with The Perfect Summer, a perfect movie for the summer :)!

DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo
