CD Review and Giveaway: My Jesus Album by Anne Wilson

I fell in love with the song My Jesus the first time I heard it a while ago. I was excited for the opportunity to watch Anne Wilson's debut album launch livestream and review the album ("My Jesus" which released on April 22nd). I was really impressed with this young lady (20 years old) who was sweet, humble, modest, and professional during the interview and throughout the livestream. She sang six of her songs from the album. She is not only a gifted musician but also a gifted songwriter. Anne Wilson is the first female debut artist to reach #1 on the Billboard Christian Airplay chart. Five years ago, her brother was tragically killed in a car accident at the age of 23. It changed the trajectory of her life. God has sustained her through her darkest moment and has guided her to use her gifts to bring messages of hope and faith to others, especially the hurting and the grieving. Her pain and loss made her lyrics real and raw.

The album includes 15 songs as follows: -

1. Prelude (Scatter)
2. Scatter
3. My Jesus
4. Devil
5. Sunday Sermons
6. Hey Girl
7. This House
8. Mansions
9. Mamas (with Hillary Scott)
10. No Place Like Home
11. God Thing
12. That's What We Need
13. Something About That Name
14. Closer to God
15. My Jesus (feat. Crowder)

All songs are great. I can listen to them over and over again. Scatter is a catchy battle song. My Jesus (which Anne co-wrote with Jeff Pardo and Matthew West) is one of my favorites; it is an invite to encounter Jesus who can transform lives. My other favorites include Mamas, No Place Like Home, and This House. They touched me and made me cry. Mamas is a beautiful song that highlights the necessity of mothers. No Place Like Home is such a personal song for Anne that also reminds us Christ's followers of Heaven, our true home. I love This House which talks about the importance of standing on God's Word and ends with the first stanza of the hymn, "My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less" (written by Edward Mote in 1834). Hey Girl is a song that encourages girls/women to find their worth and identity in the God who made them and loves them. I am glad that Anne features Crowder in My Jesus because I like Crowder, too.

I highly recommend this Jesus-centered album. I love Anne Wilson's unique, soulful voice and heartfelt, Christ-honoring lyrics. Check out My Jesus Album here.

DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo...
