Film Review: I Heard The Bells Plus $10 Amazon Giftcard Giveaway

One of my favorite Christmas carols is "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" (sung by Casting Crowns). I was thrilled for an opportunity to review this movie. I Heard the Bells is a beautiful and inspiring film based on a true story behind the beloved Christmas carol and its author, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow who was a well-loved & well-respected American poet. The film covers a three-year period of Longfellow's life from 1860 to 1863. A tragedy shattered his peaceful and picturesque life and family in such a profound way. His unimaginable grief tested his faith in God and took away any motivation to write while he was immensely worried about his son, Charley, who signed up to fight in Civil War. But the sound of bells on Christmas morning reminded Longfellow of their hopeful voices and restored his poetic passion.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and cried pretty much through the second half of the movie. Gorgeous cinematography, authentic period costumes, outstanding performances from the cast, wholesome story of faith, family, hope, and redemption...you definitely don't want to miss your chance to experience this fantastic film on the big screen this Christmas season! I am very impressed with SIGHT & SOUND since this is their first feature film. I can't wait to see more God-honoring films from them in the future.

I Heard the Bells will be in theaters starting December 1st (tomorrow). You can buy tickets here.

DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo
