Book Review and Giveaway: Wounded Tiger by T. Martin Bennett

"Wounded Tiger" is the true story of three lives that intertwined in an incredible, unexpected way, against the backdrop of World War II. The author ingeniously presents the narrative about Mitsuo Fuchida (an overambitious Japanese pilot who led the Pearl Harbor attack and hated America, driven by revenge), Jake DeShazer (an American bombardier and a prisoner of war, who's determined on retaliation against Japan after the Pearl Harbor attack), and Peggy Covell (a college student and the eldest daughter of an American missionary family who spent time in Japan and the Philippines). The story unfolds before, during, and after Japan's surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The author, T. Martin Bennett, spent 18 years conducting extensive research to ensure the historical accuracy of the events, people, and stories. The book is a thick book that includes over 300 black and white photos of people, places, planes, original telegrams, letters, maps, documents, and more. I enjoyed this moving, captivating, & inspiring read. It's well written, full of detailed description (of aircrafts, weaponries, etc.) and humor (yes, I laughed out loud several times). I appreciated the different perspectives from both sides of the war. While reading the book, I was thinking of the game, Risk. It's sad that even now some nations still fight against other nations just because "they felt that whatever they had the power to take, they had the right to take." (p. 120)

I highly recommend this remarkable book. It covers pride (national and racial), prejudice, racism, revenge, battles, survival, tragedy, bravery, agape love, compassion, kindness, hope, faith, and forgiveness. Who could have turned such an ugly story of hatred and destruction into a beautiful story of redemption and transformation and turned enemies into brothers? Only God could have done that. "Wounded Tiger" is an amazing, compelling true testimony of God's love, grace, and power. Christmas is fast approaching. "Wounded Tiger" would make a great gift for any booklovers, war story enthusiasts, military history buffs, biography fans, etc.  I can't wait for the film!

DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo
