Book Review: Clear Mind, Peaceful Heart by Lysa Terkeurst & the Proverbs 31 Ministries Team Plus a $5 Starbucks Giftcard Giveaway

According to Worldsleepday.org, 35% of people do not feel they get enough sleep, impacting both their physical and mental health. Are you one of those people who have trouble falling asleep? There are so many things that can keep our heart and mind cluttered, confused, occupied, anxious, and afraid, especially at bedtime when it's all quiet. Sleep is so important for our well-being. This book consists of 50 devotions that aim to help readers sleep better. These devotions will help shift our focus from stress, worry, burdens, problems, pressing situations, things-to-do, etc. to God, His Word and encouraging, comforting truths. The devotions are divided into 4 main sections: Balancing Daily Obligations and Pressures, Confronting Fear and Uncertainty, Navigating Family Concerns, and Trusting God During Difficult Times. They are written by various writers from the Proverbs 31 Ministries Team. One from each section is written by Lysa Terkeurst.

Each devotion begins with a Bible verse and ends with a prayer. Throughout the book, you will find some key take-away points printed on pretty pictures here and there. I enjoy gleaning Biblical insights and wisdom from different women with different backgrounds, experiences, and trials. Jesus invites us to experience His out-of-this-world peace and rest. He knows we really need it. Through the pages of Clear Mind, Peaceful Heart, you will be directed to fix your thoughts on God's presence, power, provision, protection, promises, and His sovereignty. Consider having this devotional on your nightstand and reading a devotion before you close your eyes at night. It may help calm your heart and clear your mind so that you can get a sound sleep and refreshing rest, ready and rejuvenated for the next day.

GIVEAWAY: You can enter for a chance to win a $5 Starbucks giftcard.
Note: This is limited to US winners only. The winner will be randomly chosen.

DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo...
