Book Review: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Ace Collins

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year :)! Without the birth of Jesus, we wouldn't have our Savior, salvation, or the gospel. In December each year, Christians around the world joyfully anticipate the celebration of Christ's birth. Do not let your chaotic calendars take away the joy and wonder of the season. Pause and focus on what really matters. This book consists of 31-day devotionals for the month of December, stories behind Christmas carols, traditions and symbols, recipes, and homemade gift ideas such as Birdseed Christmas Ornaments, Whipped White Chocolate Body Butter, and Lemon Beeswax Candles. We are usually busy preparing many things for Christmas. Shopping. Decorating. Baking. But often we forget about preparing our hearts. This book helps prepare our hearts and turn our attention to Jesus Christ, the Reason for the season. Starting with Scripture, each devotional is short and concise, yet insightful. I love Christmas songs so I really appreciate the lyrics and the stories behind the songs. I look forward to trying out several recipes. They sound so yummy, especially Sugar Cookie Truffles, Eggnog Snickerdoodles, and Pecan Snowball Cookies. This is a book that I'll keep coming back to year after year. If you want to have a Christ-centered Christmas season, check this delightful book out! It would also make a wonderful Christmas gift.

DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo
