Book Review: God: Accused or Excused? by Doug Webb

This is the second book in the God on Trial series. I have not read Doug Webb's first book, "'I Was Framed!' Signed, God" or his third book, "God Acquitted". Book Two consists of six chapters: Adam, Mankind Disabled, Humanity's Curse, Life After Death, Heart Disease, and The Change. The author invites readers to join him in a journey of being a Bible detective. He gives clues (relevant verses) from the Bible and encourages us to ask questions and dig deep for answers. In Introduction, he lays out a list of key events for people who are not familiar with Biblical history. In this book, Doug Webb investigates the Fall of Man and the subsequent Curse (consequences) in Genesis. He includes two main accusatory questions: Why would God put a tree nearby, which if eaten from, could cause death? and Why did God let Lucifer have access to the human race? He proceeds to use Scriptures to explain and help readers understand God's intentions & motives and look at the world and life events through God's perspective. The book also covers the topics of free will, death, destruction, and God's redemptive plan through Jesus Christ. The book is small and easy to read. I like the way the author recaps with bullet points periodically throughout the book. It's an interesting read for those who want to know why "bad things happen to good people." I appreciate the author's humble admittance that "clearly, we don't understand everything that is going on behind the scenes. Truly God's thoughts are higher than our thoughts." (p.109) As you read the book, you will realize that the main problem with Lucifer, Adam, Eve, and Cain was their pride and self-centeredness that seek to do things their own way, not God's way. May we be humble and teachable as we continue to study God's Word and seek to know Him more!

"The devil had to undermine the trust they had in God and attack God's good intentions. Do you see that? It's crucial to remember that a great external environment without sin is no guarantee that there is true love and devotion in a relationship. I believe that the fact that there wasn't a full heart connection between Adam and Eve and God, they were more susceptible to be deceived regarding God's intentions for them." (p.61)

DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo
