Review: NIV Verse Mapping Bible

I am happy to add this NIV Verse Mapping Bible to my Bible collection. This unique Bible is made for me :). I like reading and studying from different translation versions of the Bible. I also love knowing the Greek and Hebrew original roots of various words found in the Bible. The NIV Verse Mapping Bible offers both. Verse mapping goes beyond just simply reading the Bible. It uses Bible study tools to dig deeper into God's Word--to discover what God is saying and how we can apply His Word in our lives. The verse mapping technique was developed by author Kristy Cambron. The NIV Verse Mapping Bible includes 350 partially completed verse maps. There are also extra 70 blank verse mapping pages throughout the Bible for your own inductive Bible study. I enjoy Bible-journaling so again this Bible is truly my cup of tea. I choose not to write in the Bible though because the pages are thin; I prefer doing my journaling in a separate notebook. Verse mapping helps us understand the historical context, transliteration, translation, connotation, and theological framework of a verse by exploring Hebrew and Greek word studies, comparing Bible translations, connecting the dots in Scripture, and reflecting upon each verse.

Verse mapping involves five study steps:
1. Verse: Choose a verse and write it out.
2. Design: Compare different Bible translations of this verse. Write them down and underline key words that you want to explore.
3. Develop: Look up the Hebrew or Greek meaning for the underlined words and write it down.
4. Actions: Ask questions of the verse and read the verses surrounding this verse to get the context. Research what it would be like to have experienced what's happening in this verse.
5. Outcome: Write 1 to 2 sentence summary of what you have learned, what the verse means to you, and how you can apply it to your life.

This hardcover Bible includes a satin ribbon marker. I highly recommend this NIV Verse Mapping Bible for all who want to gain a richer understanding and greater insight of God's Word.

DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo
