Movie Review and Giveaway: Church People

Church People is a Christian comedy about the absurdity of the commercialized, fame-fueled megachurch phenomenon vs. the simplicity of the gospel message. A youth pastor of a megachurch realizes that his popularity is choking his passion and that creativity can turn into craziness if not careful. Guy Sides (Thor Ramsey) is a beloved youth pastor who has a big heart for evangelism and for reaching kids with the gospel. However, along the way, his speaking tour managed by his money-driven agent (Donald Faison) turns into a circus show and he becomes known as the "Beach Ball Guy". As Guy tries to get back to his youth ministry at Sand Hills Neighborhood Church, he finds himself in conflict with Pastor Skip Finney regarding an outlandish idea for the church's upcoming Good Friday service. Guy and Carla (Erin Cahill), Pastor Skip's daughter, team up to stop Pastor Skip's madness (in spite of his right motives). Is the gospel enough? Or do we need gimmicks? Are Christ's death and resurrection enough? Or do we need to make them more dramatic in order to attract people to hear the lifesaving, life-transforming message of our Savior? These are questions being explored in the movie.

Sadly, in reality, some churches have become performance-driven churches that care more about the growing number of attendants and/or the money-making book sales than about preaching the gospel and glorifying Jesus. They lose sight of what really matters. Church People will help you reflect on what truly matters (Jesus and His gospel). Church People is not only funny and entertaining but also touching and meaningful. The crucifixion message is a great reminder for us all to live self-crucified, sin-crucified lives. The film also touches on love, grace, faith, and forgiveness. I laughed out loud, and I got teary-eyed. Wonderful cast and crew. You will meet some memorable characters such as Chad (Stephen Baldwin), Blaise (Clancy MacCartney), and Tino (Joey Fatone). Check out this light-hearted & warm-hearted film! It's now available on DVD and Digital.

DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo
