Film Review: His Only Son Plus $10 Amazon Giftcard Giveaway

I am glad to see more and more Christian movies coming out. His Only Son will release in theaters tomorrow (March 31st). His Only Son tells the true Biblical account of Abraham and his faith being put to the test when God tells him to offer his one and only promised, long-awaited (25 years) son, Isaac, as a burnt offering. During his 3-day journey with Isaac and two servants to Moriah (where God told him to go), Abraham has flashbacks of the years when he and Sarah longed for the son God promised them. As a parent, I can really relate to Abraham's anguish and probably confusion, too. As a Christian, I really admire Abraham's faith and confidence in God and his unquestioning obedience. His complete trust in Yahweh Yireh ("The LORD Will Provide") is truly remarkable. He knows that God will provide what God requires. His Only Son effectively depicts Genesis 22 while beautifully weaving in the gospel message of God's grace, mercy, and redemption plan.

His Only Son
(rated PG-13 for thematic content and some violence) is a perfect film for you to watch with your families and friends this Easter season. The story of Abraham and Isaac is a typology of God's sacrifice of His only Son, Jesus Christ 2,000 years later. Mount Moriah, where Abraham built an altar and laid Isaac on the altar, is believed to be Calvary where Christ was later crucified. I am impressed with this low budget (less than $250,000) film which managed to have a fantastic cast, great music, and outstanding cinematography. Abraham is brilliantly played by Nicolas Mouawad, an award-winning Lebanese film and TV star. I really appreciate the fact that the film stays true to the historical record. Get tickets now and support this impactful, God-honoring independent Christian film! Did you know that His Only Son is the first movie ever to crowdfund its theatrical release? The film partnered with Angel Studios (the studio that brought you The Chosen) to crowdfund. It was initially set to premiere in around 600 theaters but thanks to a crowdfund that raised over $1,235,000 in under a week and positive reviews from audience members, it is now showing in 1,200 theaters and counting.

DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo
