The Shift is a dystopian drama and sci-fi thriller, inspired by the Book of Job. It's the latest film from Angel Studios (that made The Chosen and Sound of Freedom), releasing in theaters starting tomorrow, December 1st. In an alternate dimension/reality (think "multiverse"), Kevin Garner (Kristoffer Polaha) encounters "The Benefactor" (Neal McDonough). Kevin smells lies and deception from this mysterious, nefarious adversary right away; he refuses to work for/with him and his offer of wealth and power. Faced with infinite worlds and endless possibilities, Kevin fights to find a way out in order to be reunited with the woman he loves, Molly (Elizabeth Tabish).
Personally, I am not a fan of sci-fi, multiverse movies, but I enjoyed The Shift. I like the message within the movie that touches on Christ's resurrection, eternal hope, test of faith, God's truths vs. Satan's lies, light vs. darkness, life and death, agape (selfless & self-sacrificial love), and dilemma. Our life's choices affect others. It is a thought-provoking movie that reminds us of the real & present Enemy who seeks to destroy & devour God's children. He is a liar, deceiver, tempter, and chaos maker. The Shift features fantastic cast including Sean Astin (The Goonies, Rudy, The Lord of the Rings), Neal McDonough (Band of Brothers, Minority Report), and Elizabeth Tabish (The Chosen). Check out this unique and intriguing film! You can buy tickets to The Shift here. You can also help pay for other people's tickets at Pay it Forward for The Shift on Angel Studios.

Thank you for reviewing this! I have seen too many of the adverts, but this one has at least got me interested. While it is supposedly like Job, I am expecting it to be very loosely comparable 😅
ReplyDeleteI am having a hard time thinking of a movie name. The best one off the top of my head would be "The Quiet Place" (something different with the tension without nudity or excessive gore).
My first thought was actually the series "Lost in Space" (the newer one, but have to filter it the language).
