Review and Giveaway: The Encountering God Study Bible

I treasure & delight in God's Word and love studying the Scriptures in depth because I want to know God more and more intimately. I'm happy to add the Encountering God Study Bible (NKJV) to my Bible collection. It is an extensive and impressive work of the Blackaby family. The one I received for review is a beautiful black leathersoft Bible with two ribbon bookmarks (aqua and dark blue). The New King James Version has always been one of my favorites. One reason is that it capitalizes all the nouns and pronouns referring to God/Jesus/the Holy Spirit. I also appreciate red letters (for Jesus' words).

The Encountering God Study Bible includes many fantastic features such as Encounter Note (insightful commentaries), Historical Encounter (biographical sketches of figures from church history), Explaining the Faith (theology and apologetics), Character Study, and Word Study. In the front of the Bible, you will find "How to Study the Bible." In the back, you will find Study Help which consists of Biblical Timeline, Harmony of the Gospels, Read Your Bible in a Year plan, Prophecies and Fulfillments, Index to Special Features, Concordance, and 7 colored maps. Some of my favorite features are word studies that show the meaning from the original Greek and Hebrew, the Prophecies and Fulfillments by our Messiah, and the comparison chart of the four Gospels (so useful for cross references).

With my old-age eyesight, I'm so glad that the font is big and easy to read. I enjoy reading and learning from Biblical insights based on sound doctrine. I highly recommend this Bible to anyone who wants to dig deeper into God's Word, encounter God (the Bible is the only book whose Author is always present when one reads it), be transformed by His powerful Word, and live out our faith boldly. You can order your copy of the Encountering God Study Bible here.

  5. My favorite verses of the Bible are from Psalm 139. Since there are so many verses I love within this Psalm. Verse 23: Search me O God and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. This is a wonderful Psalm, with knowing that God knows us as we are being knit together in our mother’s womb. He knows every thought and deed. We cannot hide from him. Even though he knows us so intimately, including our sins and thoughts of sinning, He still loves us just the same! How wonderful it is knowing that God knows us and leads us in the way everlasting. DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo
