Game Review: The Rank Game

About THE RANK GAME: THE RANK GAME is designed by Dana Brown, a former Walt Disney Imagineer, and Chip Brown, a former Disney Studios producer and Christian publisher, to engage the diverse backgrounds, interests, personalities and opinions of every player. By celebrating our individualism, THE RANK GAME actually brings people together, through rich conversation and competition. Created for groups of all sizes, THE RANK GAME leverages our own social behaviors—ranking the things or experiences in our lives. Learn more:  https://storyastic.com/pages/about  . My Review: I am thrilled to add The Rank Game to my game collection. I collect games because I enjoy playing games with my family and friends.  The Rank Game  is simple to learn and so much fun to play. In my opinion, the best thing about this game is that it helps enable people to know one another more and better. Players guess one another's rankings to get points and win the game. It can be played in fou...

Book Review: Comparison Girl

Comparison is a disease that infects all of us at one time or another in varying degrees. It's one of the Enemy's tools and strategies for making us stumble and sin and keeping us from being useful and fruitful for the Kingdom of God. Comparing ourselves with others either causes shame, discontent, and jealousy (feeling inferior) or pride, arrogance, and contempt (feeling superior). Either way is unhealthy and unproductive. In Comparison Girl , the author shows us there's a better way to live our lives by learning from Jesus how to be free from self-absorption in this measure-up world. Do you struggle with not measuring up? Do you worry about how others think of you? Or do you think, "I would never..." when others make wrong choices? Do you easily find faults in others while being clueless about your own faults? This book addresses all these issues (insecurities, envy, fear, pride, arrogance, self-importance) and more. Shannon Popkin invites us women to tip o...

Film Review and Giveaway: I Still Believe

I was thrilled for the opportunity (via LEV3L) to review I Still Believe , the new inspiring film based on the real-life story of Christian singer and songwriter Jeremy Camp . My family and I have enjoyed and appreciated his music for years. This film is fantastic! It's a beautiful love story that also demonstrates faith, hope, and life's purpose. Jeremy Camp met his first wife, Melissa Henning, in college in 1999. Their short journey together was filled with sweet romance, brief separation, devastating diagnosis, incredible miracle, and tremendous loss/grief. Melissa was a bright shining star that glowed radiantly with God's love and her unwavering faith in our great God. She said, " If just one life comes to know Jesus through my cancer, it will all be worth it ." What a wonderful testimony her life and suffering were indeed! " I Still Believe " was the first song (see lyrics below) that Jeremy Camp wrote after Melissa's death. Her life (and dea...

Book Review: Grace Looks Amazing on You: 100 Days of Reflecting God's Love by Amy Seiffert

Grace Looks Amazing on You is a 100-day devotional for women that aims to help readers reflect and radiate God's amazing love and grace. It is filled with personal stories, Scriptures, and Biblical insights. It is divided into 10 sections of what grace looks like: confidence, soul care, contentment, practice, strength, community, refinement, overcoming, faithfulness, and trust. Each devotion begins with a Bible verse(s) and ends with "Grace Reflection" (which includes a prayer, a thought-provoking question, a reminder, or a suggestion). Each devotion is a short read but is impactful. Through the pages, you will discover that God's amazing, inexhaustible grace comes to us in so may ways and forms. Amy Seiffert is no stranger to life's messes and trials (ex: her son has Crohn's disease) yet she notices that the gift of God's grace keeps showing up, even in the midst of pain and hardship. I appreciate her transparency and her words of wisdom. One of my f...

Book Review: Resilient

Have you ever wondered why some children (growing up in Christian families) leave their Christian faith when they go to college or when they leave home? On the other hand, why do some children who had horrible childhood stay steadfast in their faith and thrive in their adulthood? Is the church dying? If so, how can we impact the future of the church? Resilient attempts to answer these questions. It's an excellent book that explores about child discipleship and the fearless future of the church. The book aims to meet the challenge facing those involved in children's ministries today regarding whether they are adequately discipling today's youth to lead the future of the church in a culture that's becoming more and more hostile to the gospel. It's a wake-up call and a call to action for all the children's ministry leaders and disciple-makers to adjust and apply the effective child discipleship that fosters spiritually resilient children who will stay resilient ...
