Book Review and Giveaway: I Am Found by Laura Dingman

My Review:
I Am Found: Quitting the Game of Hide and Seek with God and Others is a 6-week women's Bible study from Moody Publishers on shame, freedom, and identity. Deep down we know we can never hide from God but why do we still try to hide? The author wants to help women realize that they have no need to hide whatsoever and that they are made to live shame-free, grace-filled, authentic lives in Christ. You and I are fully found (known) by God and perfectly loved by Him. This truth alone is absolutely liberating and comforting! The book explores God's truths vs. Enemy's lies. It also includes practical steps to put into action what we learn from each lesson. Each week's lesson starts with an introduction and is followed by 5 daily sessions. Each day's session is sometimes divided into 4 sections: Listen, Linger, Learn, and Live. It always ends with Prayer for the Day. There's room for readers to write down their answers/thoughts.

This Bible study covers important topics of not only shame, freedom, and identity, but also fear, forgiveness, faith, pride, grace, community (Body of Christ), love (agape), redemption, and more. The theme throughout the book is: God is with you and God is for you. The author invites readers to be real and vulnerable but she also acknowledges that it's not an easy thing to do. With God's help and guidance, unpacking painful memories in the past can be a path to your own healing and transformation and can give others hope and encouragement. Being reminded of God's amazing grace and forgiveness encourages my heart and refreshes my soul. I love the SOAP method of Bible study used in the book since I'm familiar with it. I enjoy digging deeper into the Scripture, reflecting upon thought-provoking questions, and memorizing key Bible verses suggested in the book. Many nuggets of wisdom are to be discovered. I kept underlining as I was reading. I Am Found is an excellent resource for either individual study or small group study. I highly recommend this insightful & encouraging book! Live loved, forgiven, and free! Live to tell your stories for God's glory!

"In Revelation 12:11, we see how speaking our stories plays a role in defeating the enemy. 'They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.' Because of Jesus' blood and by speaking their stories, they overpowered the enemy. Whenever you voice what God has done in your life--whether through the joy or the pain--you declare who He is. You demonstrate with hard evidence what God is capable of doing. It's no wonder the enemy wants us to live in shame and stay quiet about our stories. If we speak, people will see God for who He really is--a Redeemer, a Healer, a Defender, a Rescuer, a Savior, and a King." (p. 202)

DVD Review and Giveaway: A Mile in His Shoes

A Mile in His Shoes is a family-friendly movie (PG) about a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of autism) and how his God-given talent (his amazing throwing ability) helps him and others. It's about overcoming challenges in life. It is based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler" (a true story). It's directed by William Dear, the director of "Angels In the Outfield." It stars Dean Cain who plays Arthur Murphy, a baseball coach and Luke Schroder who plays Mickey, the main character. Excellent performances! My family and I enjoyed this movie. It spoke to my heart deeply because one of my kids has symptoms that are similar to Asperger's Syndrome but the doctors diagnosed him with anxiety disorder, instead. My son is very athletic and great with numbers like Mickey. He is also sensitive to noise and crowds like Mickey. When Coach Murphy sees Mickey (a farmer boy) throw apples at a bucket for his pigs, he knows that he has just fo
